Assess, Report, Improve & Certify... to Power Growth

ESG Essentials Program - Maturity Level 1

Sustainability, environment, social and governance (ESG) is becoming an increasingly important credential for organisations, but few know what it is or how to manage it.

Without a clear understanding of sustainability and ESG management principles, businesses can struggle to make informed decisions that protect their people, planet and profits.

The ESG Essentials Program provides a framework and assessment of the best practice principles of environmental, social and governance (ESG). It’s an introduction of information and self-assessment questionnaire, supported by a library of resources and materials to help businesses understand the essentials of modern sustainability.

Program Modules

1. Emissions

The release of pollutants, like greenhouse gases, into the environment as a result of your activities. It's about how much and what kind of pollution your business produces, and the steps you take to reduce it. This includes efforts to lower carbon emissions, improve air quality, and generally lessen their environmental impact.

2. Innovation

Coming up with new and creative ways to be more environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and well-managed. It's about finding better methods, products, or services that can help your business reduce its environmental impact, improve the well-being of people, and run the business more ethically and transparently.

3. Resource Use

How you manage and use natural resources like water, energy, and materials. It involves being mindful of how much you consume and make efforts to use these resources efficiently and sustainably. This means not wasting materials, using renewable energy when possible, and reducing overall environmental impact.

4. CSR Strategy

How you plan and act to be socially responsible. It's your roadmap for making a positive impact on society and the environment, like helping communities, being eco-friendly, and ensuring fair work conditions. This strategy is not just about following rules but going beyond them to do good things for people and the planet.

5. Management

How your leaders and managers make decisions and run the business in ways that are environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and ethically sound. It's about guiding the business to do the right thing for the planet, people, and the business itself. This includes making choices that reduce environmental harm, treat employees and communities well, and run the business in a transparent and fair way.

6. Shareholders

The people or organisations that own part of a company and their role in encouraging the company to be more responsible about environmental, social, and ethical issues. It's about these owners not just caring about making money, but also wanting the company to do good things for the planet and society.

7. Community

The people and groups living in the areas where you operates. It's about how the business impacts these local communities and takes steps to support and improve them. This can mean creating jobs, supporting local projects, or being careful not to harm the local environment.

8. Human Rights

Respecting and protecting the basic rights and dignity of all people involved in your business. This includes ensuring fair working conditions, not tolerating discrimination or forced labor, and respecting the rights of local communities.

9. Product Responsibility

Making sure that the products you sell are safe, ethical, and have a minimal negative impact on the environment. This includes everything from how the product is made, ensuring it doesn't harm the environment or people, to how it's used and disposed of by customers.

10. Workforce

How you manage and treat your employees. It's about ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and opportunities for growth and development. This also includes promoting diversity and preventing discrimination in the workplace.
